The Real Time WLAN Charging Release 2.1 module handles the communications with the Access Controllers via a RADIUS API. It allows for authentication of the user at the beginning of the WLAN session, monitoring and charging in real time of the WLAN session. The Real Time WLAN Charging control module allows for the support of WLAN prepaid/postpaid and control postpaid subscribers. This new module is completely integrated in the Alcatel Postpaid/Prepaid Suite Release 4.2.2
Alcatel 8616 eContent Charging

The Alcatel 8616 can be used as an option of the Alcatel Prepaid Mobile service (PPS) or Prepaid Telephony (PPT) services, or as a complete standalone application. It runs on Alcatel's Open Services Platform (OSP) and can be deployed by fixed, mobile or Internet service providers
Alcatel 8617 Real Time Data Charging
Alcatel 8617 Real Time Data Charging (RTDC) is the Payment Suite product that handles the events relating to content charging and micro-payment. For micro-payment handling RTDC contains an "E-Content application" that performs a transactional exchange of information involving the content provider, the user and the RTDC itself in order to control the e-commerce operation. For content charging, Alcatel 8617 RTDC interfaces the Charging Proxy and the Rating Engine in order to properly rate the on-going event. When the final cost of the event (e-commerce or content rating) is known/computed, Alcatel 8617 RTDC interfaces the account management system for prepaid users or create a XDR for postpaid users. The debit process can be done in one step (debit) or two steps (reservation and debit). In addition, an open API offers a direct credit or debit function. This function is used for instance for refund when an event requests it, or for balance adjustments

MO-SMS events are triggered by MSC (Mobile Switching Centres) when a prepaid subscriber sends a short message (MO-SMS). The rating can take into account the dialled number so that P2A (person-to-application) message can be rated differently from P2P (person-to-person) messages
