Alcatel 8617 Real Time Data Charging
Alcatel 8617 Real Time Data Charging (RTDC) is the Payment Suite product that handles the events relating to content charging and micro-payment. For micro-payment handling RTDC contains an "E-Content application" that performs a transactional exchange of information involving the content provider, the user and the RTDC itself in order to control the e-commerce operation. For content charging, Alcatel 8617 RTDC interfaces the Charging Proxy and the Rating Engine in order to properly rate the on-going event. When the final cost of the event (e-commerce or content rating) is known/computed, Alcatel 8617 RTDC interfaces the account management system for prepaid users or create a XDR for postpaid users. The debit process can be done in one step (debit) or two steps (reservation and debit). In addition, an open API offers a direct credit or debit function. This function is used for instance for refund when an event requests it, or for balance adjustments
